ANDERSON – Troopers from the Indiana State Police Pendleton Post arrested individuals after they allegedly pointed a firearm during a road rage incident on Interstate 69.
On Wednesday, January 4, just before midnight, Indiana State Police dispatch received a report of a road rage incident in which a firearm was pointed at the caller.Â
The caller described the weapon as having a green laser and was pointed out of the rear window of the vehicle onto the front window of the caller’s car. Troopers from the Pendleton Post quickly responded to the area and located the vehicle matching the description. Trooper Matthew Dickerson was able to stop the maroon Chrysler minivan.
When Trooper Dickerson spoke to the driver, who was identified as Ty Richardson, 19, of Indianapolis, and a passenger, identified as Jaron L. Ratliff, 19, of Anderson, Dickerson noticed a smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and waited until Trooper Michael Garcia arrived to assist before detaining both of the individuals in the vehicle.Â
Troopers then conducted a search on the vehicle, where they located 48.5 grams of marijuana in the center console of the vehicle. A .40 caliber Glock handgun was also located in the glove box. Upon inspection of the handgun, Dickerson identified a laser/flashlight attachment on the handgun that emitted a green laser. Both occupants were arrested and transported to the Madison County Jail without incident.
Richardson is facing charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ratliff is facing charges of pointing a firearm, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
