LAWRENCE CO. – On Thursday, January 5, the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) concluded another lengthy investigation by making several arrests for possession and dealing of methamphetamine.
Over the past few months, Troopers received multiple tips and information that Denna Cooper, 53, of Bedford was allegedly involved in possessing and dealing large quantities of meth in and around Lawrence County.
Acting on these tips, Troopers launched an investigation that included a plethora of investigative techniques which helped establish probable cause into the dealing allegations.
On Thursday, around 11:00 a.m., ISP applied for and was granted a search warrant for Cooper’s residence.
As Trooper Chance Humphrey, Trp. Kent Rohlfing, Trp. Caroline Harding and Drug Enforcement Detectives arrived at the residence they located and detained Cooper, three adult individuals and one minor.
As the investigation continued, Troopers located several items of evidence that included glass smoking devices, hypodermic syringes, digital scales, approximately eight grams meth, approximately one gram of heroin, and a loaded handgun that the serial number had been removed from.
Troopers arrested:
Denna K. Cooper, 53, of Bedford, was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Calvin Haddock III, 49, of Bedford, on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Colton Cooper, 20, of Bedford, on charges of possession of methamphetamine in the presence of a minor, a Level 5 felony, possession of a handgun with an altered serial number, a Level 5 felony, and neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony.
Geneva N. Wilson, 20, of Bedford, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine in the presence of a minor, a Level 5 felony, and neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony.
Troopers were assisted by the Indiana Department of Child Services and the minor child was removed from the residence and placed into the custody of caseworkers of DCS.
