JACKSON CO. – A Scott County man was arrested after he fled the scene of an injury accident on State Road 256 in Jackson County near the Scott County line Wednesday at 3:30 a.m.
Police arrested Brain Davis Jr., 34, of Austin, on felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.
According to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer, when officers arrived at the crash scene they found personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services treating a male motorist who had suffered head trauma and internal injuries. The male told police he had been driving east on State Road 256 when his vehicle was struck from behind by a second vehicle and that motorist had fled the scene.
Responding officers found a box with a name and Austin address and other debris from a white vehicle and Dodge Ram grill.
Officers responded to the address on the box in the 3000 block of North Thompson Road to look for the white Dodge Ram, Sheriff Meyer added.
Officers found that vehicle with front-end damage parked in the driveway. They also found a trail of blood leading to the front door of the home.
They found Davis inside. Davis had suffered obvious signs of injury from the crash. He admitted he had been involved in the accident and fled the scene.
