BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing charges of criminal trespass and auto theft after Bedford Police officers responded to an incident in the 1000 block of 5th Street on Sunday.
When police arrived a woman reported her dark gray 2011 Ford Escape had been stolen.
She told police that 22-year-old Kaden Tincher had woken her around 1:30 a.m. and asked her where her boyfriend was. She told Tincher she didn’t know and went back to sleep.
When she woke, she found Tincher and her vehicle missing. The only key to the vehicle had been removed from her key ring. The woman told police she had not given Tincher permission to use her truck.
The woman signed a verification of a stolen vehicle form and requested Tincher be charged if located.
On Monday, police again spoke to the woman who said she had not heard from Tincher.
Later that day around 2:33 p.m., the woman called the police saying Tincher had returned to her apartment with her vehicle. Officers responded and detained Tincher.
They then learned there was a no-trespass order filed against Tincher preventing him from being at the apartment but family members have allowed him to stay on occasion.
Tincher was detained.
Tincher admitted to police that he did not have permission to take the vehicle.
