BEDFORD – Two Seymour women were arrested on drug charges when a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped their vehicle early Tuesday morning on State Road 37 near Stevens Lane after noticing the tail light was emitting white light instead of red.
The officer spoke to the driver of the vehicle 21-year-old Saffire Hashman and her passenger 26-year-old Angelica Newport. The deputy then learned Newport was wanted on an active warrant in Jackson County and she was detained.
Officers then searched the vehicle and found in Newport’s backpack a syringe filled with meth. They also located numerous syringes and a baggy of meth in the vehicle.
Officers then detained Hashman.
Both women are facing charges of possession of meth and unlawful possession of a syringe.
