BEDFORD – A Bloomington man was arrested Wednesday morning after a Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a man passed out in a vehicle in the roadway near Harrodsburg.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Department was alerted.
At 6:35 a.m. the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department reported they had stopped that same vehicle at the intersection of State Road 37 and Old State Road 37 located in Lawrence County.
Officers noted in their report that the driver 29-year-old Kraig Smoot, of Bloomington, was intoxicated and “reeked of alcohol, had slurred speech, and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot”.
Smoot failed numerous field sobriety tests and admitted he had been drinking.
Smoot was detained and transported to the Bedford Police Department where he was tested and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.215.
He was transported to jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
