BEDFORD – An English man was arrested after he allegedly stole items from Walmart on December 22, 2022, before fleeing from the store.
Police arrested 47-year-old Terry Riddle on a charge of theft.
According to a store employee, on that day Riddle was stopped after he did not render proper payment for items. After being stopped and asked about the items, he ran out of the store pushing an elderly female customer out of the way as he ran.
Officers searched the area of Riddle but were unable to locate him.
Riddle failed to pay for blue shop towels, clothing, and other merchandise totaling more than $416.
On January 1, 2023, police went to Riddle’s home to speak to him. He admitted to the theft and said he was in a bad place since his wife had passed away and apologized for his actions.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
