HUNTINGBURG – Bedford North Lawrence’s Jorj Filler advanced to the second stage of the IHSAA state tournament series during the sectional at Southridge on Saturday.
Filler finished fourth at 126 pounds to qualify for the regional. The top four in each weight class advanced to the regional at Bloomington South on Feb. 4. Filler was the lone member of the Stars to move on.
In his opening match, Filler (30-9) pinned Southridge’s Carter Anderson in 3:58. After a loss to Tell City’s Chase Stephens in the semifinal, he bounced back to defeat New Albany’s Jayden Ferguson (7-3) in the consolation round.
Anderson earned revenge with a 4-2 decision over Filler in the third-placed match.
BNL finished seventh in the team standings with 46 points.
