Washington Police officers will take a dip during the 2023 Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics and are seeking donations

WASHINGTON – The Washington Police Department has put a team together for the 2023 Polar Plunge.

The Polar Plunge raises funds for the Indiana Special Olympics, which is a not-for-profit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, reaching more than 15,000 athletes across Indiana. Each participant must raise at least $85; every team sets a goal.

The WPD Team has collected $3,344, their goal is to reach $5,000.

The WPD Team, along with several other teams, will jump into the water, no matter what the temperature is at Prides Creek on February 25th to demonstrate their commitment to this cause.

The team is currently collecting donations from any local businesses or individuals who wish to donate. All checks should be made payable to Indiana Special Olympics.

Donations can be dropped off at the Washington Police Department, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and ask for Kyla. If you are unable to bring your donation to the station during these hours or you have any questions, you can contact Kyla at 812-254-8242. The department will be accepting donations for the next few weeks.
