BEDFORD – Two people were arrested Monday after Bedford Police officers were called to 1714 C Street at 8:05 p.m. after a report of a physical domestic fight.
When officers arrived they met with 22-year-old Amber Kast. Kast told police that 37-year-old Todd Voorhies had left on foot and was last seen walking south on C Street.
Kast told police she and Voorhies had been arguing and she asked him to leave. She said while they were both in the kitchen, Voorhies was verbally abusive. Kast told police that Voorhies grabbed her and pushed her and she fell into a table. She told police she then grabbed Voorhies shoes and the shoelace was on her finger. She stated Voorhies then grabbed his shoes from her which pulled the shoelace and caused it to cut her finger.
Once officers located Voorhies, he stated that Kast was “going crazy on him accusing him of stealing her marijuana”.
He stated when he tried to leave that Kast grabbed him pulling him and then punched him multiple times in the chest, neck, and face. Kast had their daughter bring her the phone, who was in the living room area with her headphones on. It was at that time, that Kast began hitting him in the face with the phone.
Voorhies said during the altercation, Kast grabbed him multiple times by the scrotum and squeezed causing him pain.
Voorhies claimed he never hit Kast but did push her away and she fell to her knees.
He told police their daughter did witness the fight.
Both Voorhies and Kast were arrested on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and transported to jail.
The Department of Child Services was contacted and the child was released to her grandfather.
