2023 Cadillac XT5 recalled for a separating half-shaft issue

INDIANA – GM has issued a product recall for certain units of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 due to a problem with the right-front half-shaft assemblies.

The problem is that defective right-front (or passenger’s side) half-shaft assemblies have the potential to decouple from the transmission under certain load conditions.

The hazard is if the half-shaft were to be separated from the transmission, affected vehicles have an increased risk of a serious crash due to an unexpected loss of propulsion/mechanical braking.

Certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect the passenger-side half-shaft and replace it if necessary, free of charge. It’s worth noting that dealers have been instructed to wait to order the necessary components due to the limited number of vehicles affected.

Affected vehicles:

GM believes there are only 10 affected vehicles with this issue, although the GMC Acadia is also included in the recall.

GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer.
