LOOGOOTEE — The Daviess-Martin County Joint Parks Board has hired a new superintendent for West Boggs Park.
Nathan Rihm, a native of Dubois County, will take over at the helm of the popular campground and fishing lake succeeding Jameson Hibbs, who left for another job last year. Hibbs has assisted in keeping the park going, but officials say they will be happy to have Rihm at the helm.
Rihmn was born and raised in Jasper. After moving to Terre Haute following his graduation after he earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in Earth and Environmental Science.
This course of study aligned with his passion for the outdoors and how natural processes shape our environment. During his free time, Nathan enjoys spending time with nearby friends and family, and outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, kayaking, and hiking.
Rihm is looking forward to serving the community and is confident his interests, goals, and previous experiences will benefit the park and its patrons.
“I want to improve the experience for the people who visit the park,” said Rihm.
He has previously worked on a sailing yacht, as an ocean kayak guide, and in various other service and recreation-based positions. He greatly enjoys building teams and exceeding customers’ expectations. He has also managed several restaurants in the past and has owned and operated a kayak company in Maui.
Rihm is passionate about both the outdoors and customer service and he is delighted to bring both of these to the community.
Rihm and his fiance Alison are delighted to be living near friends and family and to be working for the surrounding community.
