BEDFORD – North Lawrence Community Schools has begun the process to find a long-term fit for superintendent after posting a vacancy notice for the position, seeking applicants.
The notice, posted to the NLCS website states the deadline for applications to be submitted is Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
From there, the first round of interviews will be conducted on March 6-10. A second round of interviews will be conducted the next week, March 13-17.
The listed start date for the new superintendent is July 1.
The position was opened after the NLCS board voted 5-2 on Jan. 12, agreeing to buy out the previous superintendent Ty Mungle’s contract with the district. Mungle’s contract, which was set to expire in 2025, was bought out for $141,281.42.
After his departure, Steve Underwood served as the superintendent through the end of January, with Jim Halik taking over as the interim superintendent on Feb. 1.
