LAWRENCE CO. – The 49th Annual Lawrence County Spelling Bee, hosted by 1340 WBIW, will take place over two days at Bedford Middle School’s Schafer Auditorium. It is free to attend and open to the public. Doors open for spectators at 4:30 p.m. both days.
Day one of the competition will be Monday, February 27 where each school in Lawrence County will send their school champion (Grades 3-5) to compete. This first day of the spelling bee will determine our Day One (Grade 3-5) Champion for Lawrence County, who will advance to the next round.
Then on Tuesday, February 28 all of the Schools in Lawrence County will send their school champion (Grades 6-8) to compete. Also competing will be the Day One Champion.
The winner from day two of the competition will be named the 2023 Lawrence County Spelling Bee Champion. The Champion will receive $100 provided by Bedford Federal Savings Bank, a pizza party for their homeroom class provided by Pappa Johsn Pizza along with a trophy, certificate, and tee-shirt provided by WBIW 1340 AM.
A playback of the competition will be aired on 1340 WBIW AM & online at www.wbiw.com/listen-live at 6:30 p.m. each day. Additionally, live streaming on the WBIW Facebook page will be provided.
