Bedford Redevelopment Commission approve various payments for ongoing projects during monthly meeting

BEDFORD – During the monthly meeting for February, which was held Monday afternoon, the Bedford Redevelopment Commission approved payments for different projects and work being done around the city, including the Spider Creek lift station project and the new Bedford Police Department station being constructed on 16th Street.

A total of $410,454.21 was authorized to be paid related to the new police station construction. That amount is split between three invoices.

  • $376,029 – to be paid as part of a contract with Midwestern Engineers Inc. and Fox Construction Inc. for construction efforts at the new station.
  • $10,267.38 – to be paid to Midwestern Engineers Inc. based on an invoice the city received from the company for construction engineering and filing fees.
  • $24,157.83 – for items ordered from HPC Internet Services for new equipment needed at the station

Additionally, BPD chief Terry Moore said construction of the station is still on track to be finished along the previous timeline, which would have it ready by the end of July.

The commission also approved reimbursements to the City of Bedford Utilities in the amount of $353,798.40.

  • $173,025.22 – paid to Gripp, which monitors overflows and the amount of water coming into Spider Creek
  • $126,298.40 – paid to Lochmueller for engineering services for the Spider Creek project
  • $54,474.78 – paid to purchase and appraise property at Oak Creek Manor in Bedford, where a tank will be installed for the Spider Creek project.
