INDIANA – Indiana Kids Belong is a chapter of America’s Kids Belong. The organization’s mission is to empower and equip the community to improve the lives of foster children.
It is promoting its free Foster Friendly app that works as an all-in-one source for restaurant deals, entertainment discounts, and community services like food banks and clothing closets.
The Foster Friendly App, powered by America’s Kids Belong, connects you to:
• Businesses offering discounts as a way of saying thanks for your service.
• Faith Communities that care about foster care with you by being trauma aware, offering ongoing support, and creating awareness.
• Community support specific to you like foster closets, events, and more.
Nationally, 50 percent of foster parents quit after the first placement or within the first year of fostering. This is largely due to a lack of community and social support.
It’s one thing if a business or church supports local foster families on their own. But the power of technology creates a network of support from those individual efforts to come around kinship and foster families in our neighborhoods and communities in an even more significant way.
The Foster Friendly app is free for everyone and is available in the App Store and Google Play. Foster families and businesses can sign-up through the app. The organization is also looking for ambassadors to spread the word and recruit businesses for the app.
Today nearly 5,000 foster families have downloaded our Foster Friendly App in participating states. And new businesses and faith communities are joining every day!
