MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested Monday when Mitchell Police officers were called at 1:35 a.m. to the 200 block of West Frank Street after a report of a woman standing near a truck and screaming.
When police arrived they found 41-year-old Tracy Cook in a driveway in the 100 block of West Frank Street yelling unintelligibly and crying.
Officers began speaking to Cook and say she was intoxicated. She was slurring her speech and was unstable on her feet. She was “not able to communicate effectively and unable to have an intelligible conversation”.
A man at the scene told police he and Cook had been watching the Super Bowl and over the course of the evening, Cook had consumed a large amount of alcohol.
The male went to sleep but was waken by Cook who had gone outside and was screaming. He attempted to get Cook to come back inside but she refused.
Officers told Cook to calm down and go back inside, which she did.
But at 2:07 a.m. officers were again called to the home after the male called the police saying Cook was destroying his home and had run outside to neighbors. Police then received a 911 call from that neighbor reporting a woman was knocking loudly on their front door and screaming.
When officers arrived they spoke to Cook who said she didn’t want to stay at the male’s house but she couldn’t tell the officers why she didn’t want to stay there.
The male told police he didn’t want Cook in his home because she had trashed the inside of his house. Police found the living room in disarray.
Family members arrived on the scene and picked up Cook after being medically cleared by emergency personnel due to her level of intoxication.
But at 3:58 a.m. officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of South 9th Street. The caller reported a woman was outside of a vehicle yelling at a male. Police found the vehicle stopped at the stop sign at South 9th Street and State Road 37. Cook was standing outside of the vehicle yelling at her father and sister who had picked her up.
They told police that Cook attempted to jump out of the moving vehicle. The two then tried to get Cook back into the vehicle but she was refusing to get in the vehicle.
Cook was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct and transported to jail.
