BEDFORD – A two-vehicle accident this morning, Feb. 15, claimed the life of an Orleans man.
The accident was reported at 5:35 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 37 and 16th Street.
According to a Bedford Police Department report, 40-year-old Adam Redmon complained of body pain and was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital where he told police he couldn’t remember what happened to cause the accident.
His passenger, 42-year-old Karlie Holt, who suffered internal injuries was transferred to IU Health Bedford Hospital and then transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Brandon Meadway, 26, of Bedford, told police he was traveling south on State Road 37 and approaching the 16th Street intersection. He said that the Toyota Camry driven by Redmon turned from the northbound lane into his path of travel. He said he was unable to stop his Ford Escape to avoid the collision.
Police said Redmon failed to yield the right of way.
Meadway complained of pain in his knees, lower leg, and foot and was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.
As is protocol in fatal accidents, Meadway agreed to a blood draw. A warrant was also granted for a blood draw on Redmon since he was unable to consent to the test. Test results are pending.
The total estimate of all damages is more than $100, 000.
