ODON – Senator Todd Young will kick off his Jobs, Innovation, and Security Tour by visiting WestGate@Crane Technology Park in Odon and Samtec in New Albany on Tuesday to tout the benefits of the CHIPS and Science Act.
“Everyone deserves a career, not just a job. Everyone deserves the chance to fulfill their dreams and rise up the ladder of opportunity,” said Senator Todd. “Due to Republican-led initiatives like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, workers are taking home more of their hard-earned money, and businesses of all sizes are expanding, hiring, and investing in their employees. I support policies that will keep our economy booming and address challenges like the skills gap and prepare workers for the jobs of today and tomorrow.”
Senator Young was the lead Republican author of the legislation which incentivizes domestic fabrication of microchips and research and development in other frontier technologies.
“Supporting workforce training for Hoosiers and Americans is vital to preparing for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Senator Young. “Career and technical education equips individuals with hands-on experiences, addresses the skills gap, and provides a pathway to a meaningful career. Hoosiers deserve opportunities to succeed and live the American Dream.”
At WestGate, Senator Young will meet with leaders of NWSC Crane, Radius Indiana, and military suppliers.
He will then tour ManTech. Last month, ManTech received a $57 million contract to develop technologies supporting advanced weapons systems.
In New Albany, Senator Young will tour Samtec, a global manufacturer that will benefit from the CHIPS and Science Act.
