GREENE CO. – A Texas man was seriously injured after crashing his semi on I-69 in Greene County early Sunday morning.
The accident was reported at 4:30 a.m. on the northbound exit ramp at the 98-mile marker.
When deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived, they found the semi and trailer overturned on the driver’s side in the grass between the exit ramp and I-69.
The sheriff’s office said the driver, 68-year-old Juan Loyola, of Texas, was trapped inside.
Loyola was extracted from the semi and flown to an Indianapolis hospital via helicopter. Deputies said he was conscious when he was transported.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved.
The northbound exit ramp was closed for an extended period of time while crews clean up the accident scene.
