INDIANA – New research has revealed the states where Indiana residents are moving to the most, with Florida coming out on top.
The study by moving experts at Forbes Home analyzed the latest available state-to-state migration data from the U.S. Census Bureau, which detailed where people in each state had been living one year before, to discover how many Americans are moving – and where they’re moving to.
According to the study, the top five states that Hoosiers are moving to are:
- Florida
- Illinois
- Ohio
- Kentucky
- Michigan
Florida
The latest data shows that Florida is the most popular destination for residents moving out of Indiana, with 18,175 people making the move during the year of the study.
Illinois
Illinois is the second most popular destination for moving Indiana residents, with 17,156 people making the move during the year of the study.
Ohio
12,714 people moved from Indiana to Ohio in 2019, giving the state the third-place position.
Kentucky
Kentucky state comes in fourth place, with 11,424 people moving there from Indiana during the year of the study.
Michigan
Michigan rounds out the top five, with 11,026 Indiana residents moving to the state in 2033
