Martha M. Craig, 99, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord at 9:10 pm, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Garden Villa with her daughter by her side.
Born December 17, 1923, in Silverville, she was the daughter of Edgar and Lena (Wagner) Eggers. She married Raymond L. Craig on November 30, 1968, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1994.
Martha graduated from Beauty College in Muncie in 1951 and worked at REC and NWSC Crane. She gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 40 and spent the rest of her life serving Him. In 2006, at the age of 82, she graduated from World Harvest Ministries in Columbus, OH, as the oldest to complete the 8 courses with straight A’s, with students from 70 foreign countries. She did missionary work in Israel and Haiti.
Survivors include two daughters, Myra Eggers-Butler Kendall, of Bedford, and Beverly Hollon, of Haysville, KS; a step-daughter, Dee Smith (Gerald), of Utica, KY; grandchildren, Chris Butler and wife, Kelly, Tess Butler, Brooke Hollon, and Brittany Bruner; great-grandson, Andrew Butler, who was her caregiver for 5 years; several other great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a stepdaughter, Kay Sipes; two sisters, Ella Frances Dalton and Ethel Leon Eggers (in infancy), and three sons-in-law.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 st in the House of Prayer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Macular Degeneration Association.
