BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after a Bedford Police officer witnessed her fail to use her turn signal when turning onto 29th Street from Ted Jones Drive.
The officer stopped 58-year-old Kimberly Taylor’s white Nissan Murano at Clover apartments near 27th and Western Avenue.
Police say Taylor was not wearing her seatbelt.
The officer requested Taylor’s driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration information. She was then asked if she had anything illegal in the vehicle and she stated no.
The officer then asked for consent to search the vehicle.
Canine Zazu conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted the officer to possible narcotics in the vehicle.
In the front passenger seat in a red bag, the officer found a clear plastic bag containing crystal meth, and a red cut straw that also contained crystal meth residue,
The rest of the vehicle was searched, however, nothing else was located. Taylor was detained.
Taylor admitted the meth belonged to her. She then admitted she had more meth in her bra.
She was unhandcuffed and retrieved a black drawstring bag from her bra. Inside the drawstring bag, was a clear plastic bag that contained crystal meth and a cut straw with meth residue.
She then handed the officer $176 in cash and had him locate a chime/debit card that she wanted to give to her son. The officer located the son in the parking lot and gave him the chime card and the cash and informed him that he could drive the vehicle from the scene.
Taylor was then transported to jail on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
