BEDFORD – Lawrence County Highway Department crews are gearing up for the paving season.
Today during the commissioners’ meeting at the Lawrence County Courthouse, the commissioners approved and accepted several bids for paving and materials.
According to Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb, Milestone Construction, and Flynn & Sons Excavating & Paving will be paving local roads. Milestone submitted the lowest bid for the Community Crossing projects.
A bid from CLR Construction was also approved for Bridge 36 on Locust Road in Shawswick Township.
“This is a new decking project and the beams are decaying,” said Commissioner Wally Branham, “This is not a big bridge but it still is going to cost a lot to fix but we need to address the issue.”
A preconstruction meeting was held to make repairs to Bridge 150 on Mill Creek Road. The commissioners reported the bridge will be closed sometime in May 2023 and is estimated to reopen in May 2024. CLR Construction submitted the lowest bid and will complete the project.
According to Webb, Bridge 150 will be taken out and replaced with a new bridge.
Highway crews are also patching potholes and doing shoulder work
