Robert H. Taylor, 88, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at U of L Health Louisville Hospital.
Born September 15, 1934, in Carrolton, Kentucky, he was the son of Orvil J. Taylor and Mary Alice (Lawrence) Johnson. He married Nancy Elizabeth Taylor and she preceded him in death in 1985.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. Robert worked in commercial trucking and owned several trucking companies throughout his career. He enjoyed many favorite pastimes including having been a member of pit crews at the Indianapolis 500, automotive racing, riding horses, commercial shark fishing, playing as much golf as he could, traveling, and was an avid reader and collector of books for his library. Robert was a member of the American Legion. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his children, Brenda Campbell, Bob Taylor, Gary Taylor, Bruce Taylor, and Tammy Yoder; grandchildren, Shane Taylor, Travis Taylor, James Campbell, Samantha Porter, Sarah Welcomer, Bryce Taylor, and Ashley Yoder; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Campbell, Astrid Porter, Camden Porter, and London Porter; and sister, Carol Magdeluium.
His parents; son, Christopher Taylor; grandchildren, Andrew Campbell, Sydney Taylor, and Michael Yoder, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7th from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 at 5:00 p.m.
Cremation has been chosen.
