BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Friday after Bedford Police officers were called at 9:18 p.m. to the parking lot of Mamma’s & Pappa’s Restaurant on Mitchell Road after a report of a suspicious male inside a brown vehicle in the parking lot. The caller said they believed the male was intoxicated.
When police arrived, they spotted the vehicle on the north side of the restaurant. Sitting in the driver’s seat was 25-year-old Zachary Garrison, of Bedford.
Garrison began to panic when he saw the officer and quickly moved into the passenger seat of the vehicle.
As the officer exited his patrol vehicle, Garrison exited and began walking toward the officer. The officer said Garrison was intoxicated. The officer said Garrison was sweating excessively on a night when it was approximately 40 degrees. The officer noted, Garrison “exhibited an inability to remain still by flailing his arms uncontrollably and showed poor manual dexterity. He attempted multiple times to secure his belt to his pants but repeatedly failed.”
Canine Maximus conducted a free-air sniff of Garrison’s vehicle and alerted officers to possible narcotics inside.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, police located a black nylon carrying case. Inside this case, was a glass smoking device with a burned meth residue. In a second black nylon case, police found several clear plastic bags containing different substances. Two of them tested positive for meth. A third and fourth plastic bag both tested positive for oxycodone hydrochloride, a schedule II controlled substance.
Police also found a glass smoking device and a yellow tube containing meth residue. Garrison was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
