BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 25 after Bedford Police officers were requested at 9:43 p.m. to the area of 21st and I streets after a report of a male standing in the middle of the road screaming.
The caller reported the male had fallen down and was attempting to get up but kept falling down. He was eventually able to get up and was now walking on the sidewalk.
Officers located 52-year-old Daniel Yarberry, outside of his home in the 2000 block of I Street. Police say Yarberry was “talking incoherently and slurring his words” and smelled of alcohol.
Police told Yarberry to go back inside his home and stop causing a disturbance.
At approximately 10:07 p.m., officers received another call advising Yarberry was back in the roadway.
When police arrived they found Yarberry in the middle of the road near the intersection of 20th and I streets. While officers were pulling up to the residence, Yarberry began running back to the sidewalk and fell down on the side of the road near the curb. He then got up and walked to his front porch and sat down on the step.
He was ordered to stand up to be handcuffed but he forcibly pulled his hands away from the officers and began yelling incoherently, police said. Officers were able to gain control of Yarberry and detain him.
Yarberry blew a 0.148 percent blood alcohol content on a preliminary breath test.
Yarberry was arrested on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
