SEYMOUR — Officers with the Seymour Police Department responded to a report of shots fired Tuesday afternoon, with investigators concluding the incident was unintentional.
At about 4:20 p.m., police responded to the 800 block of West McDonald Street in reference to a shot being fired into a house. No one was home when the shot was fired and no injuries were reported, according to Lt. C.J. Foster.
Patrol officers arrived on the scene and found the shot came from a neighboring residence.
Investigators obtained a Jackson Superior Court 1 search warrant to process the home, ultimately finding the shot was not intentional and may have been the result of a medical issue, according to police.
The investigation will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor.
