INDIANAPOLIS – The Court of Appeals celebrated International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8, with a lunch on the 4th Floor of the Statehouse.
Court of Appeals judges, Indiana Supreme Court justices, legislators, and gubernatorial representatives gathered to celebrate female leadership in the Courts, recognizing also the historic female majority of the Court of Appeals triggered by the appointment of the Honorable Dana J. Kenworthy.
The lunch included remarks from Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush, Chief Judge Robert R. Altice, Jr., Judge Margret G. Robb, Judge Leanna K. Weissmann, Emily Crisler from Governor Holcomb’s office, and keynote speaker Pamela Whitten, President of Indiana University.
The Court of Appeals of Indiana is the second-highest court in the state, hearing appeals from the state’s trial courts. The 15 members of the Court issued approximately 2,000 written opinions in 2022. A decision is final unless granted further review by the Indiana Supreme Court.
