INDIANA – The I-69 Finish Line project hit a major milestone earlier this month as bridge crews set the first beams for the new I-465/I-69 system interchange in Marion County.
Not only were they the first beams set in the system interchange, but they are the largest pre-stressed concrete beams in the entire project. A total of five bridge beams were hung on Monday, March 6, each measuring 165 feet in length and weighing approximately 200,000 pounds.
Once complete, the new system interchange will provide a high-speed, free-flow transition between I-69 and I-465.
Bridges are a key component to connectivity and bridge beams are the structural backbone. Many of these structures are produced right here in Indiana.
Prestress Services in Decatur, Indiana has fabricated more than 500 concrete beams for the I-69 Finish Line project.
Thank you for your patience this past weekend as crews shifted westbound I-465 traffic into its construction configuration.
Reminder: the ramp from southbound U.S. 31/East Street to westbound I-465 will remain closed for the duration of the project into late 2024.
Motorists should expect single-lane and nightly double-lane closures on I-465 between I-65 and I-70 this week.

While construction of connections to the S.R. 144 interchange continues, Huggin Hollow Road at S.R. 144 remains a right turn only.
Motorists wishing to go eastbound on S.R. 144 from Huggin Hollow Road should follow the signs to southbound Old S.R. 37 and use the signalized intersection at S.R. 144.
The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
