BLOOMINGTON – Indiana University Health and the IU Health Foundation welcomed local organizations on Monday, Feb. 27, at Ivy Tech Bloomington to celebrate our Community Impact Investment Fund (CIIF) and the Community Investment Fund grantees who are helping make south-central Indiana a healthier place to live, work, and play.
These mission-based projects and programs, proposed by IU Health team members and community partners, will address local priorities around social determinants of health and health disparities.

“We were honored to host the Community Impact Investment fund celebration here on the Ivy Tech Bloomington campus, in Shreve Hall. Ivy Tech Bloomington was one of the recipients of this grant, which will allow us to create and offer more educational opportunities in healthcare-related fields in the communities we serve,” Ivy Tech Bloomington Chancellor, Jennie Vaughan. ‘We cannot thank our partners at Indiana University Health and the IU Health Foundation enough for their trust and unwavering support of our campus.”
Southern Indiana Community Health Care will receive $1.25 million over three years to build a Recovery Engagement Center in Orange County to treat addiction and substance use disorders. The project includes training for behavioral health workers.
Ivy Tech Bloomington will receive $500,000 over three years to hire staff and offer certification courses for medical careers in phlebotomy, electrocardiograph technician, certified clinical medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, and emergency medical technician. Wheeler Mission will receive $243,000 over three years to remodel the Wheeler Center for Men in Bloomington provide space for job training, behavioral health services, and medical and case management.
Prior awardees in the south-central region include United Way of Monroe County, Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, Community Foundation Partnership of Lawrence County, Lawrence County Workforce Coalition, and New Hope for Families. Empowered by CII grant funding, these partners have made strides in helping improve their communities.
