INDIANA — JA Benefits, of Bedford, St. John Associates, Inc. of Bloomington and True Rx Health Strategists and TrueScripts, both located in Washington, are among industries from across the state named to the 2023 Best Places to Work in Indiana list.
JA Benefits an insurance broker located at 1630 H St. in Bedford, made the small companies list for the 11th straight year. Established in 1988, JA Benefits has claimed the top spot among companies with 15-74 employees four times, most recently in 2022. JA Benefits is also a Hall of Fame designee for consistently making the list.
St. John Associates, Inc. creates trusted relationships between physicians and the medical practices they serve. Using a targeted approach, a thorough understanding of physician recruitment and a passion for building strong health care networks informs its physician recruiting process. Recognizing success is about more than filling an open job; it’s about helping people pursue fulfilling lives in meaningful careers, bringing long-term value to the people and communities they serve.
True Rx Health Strategists and TrueScripts, both located in Washington, made the list for medium-sized companies (75-249 employees).
Established in 2014 by Daviess County native Nathan Gabhart, TrueScripts first made the Best Places list two years ago in the small company category. In 2022, following rapid growth, TrueScripts moved to the medium company category and was named the number one company in that category.
TrueScripts is a pharmacy benefit manager and has 115 employees.
A total of 125 Hoosier businesses made the list. This marks the 18th edition of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce initiative.
“The Best Places to Work in Indiana program is so popular because it not only showcases the state’s top workplaces but also includes an employee survey that helps all applicants improve their culture and productivity,” said Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar. “One exciting point is that more small companies made the list this year than ever before,” he adds. “With small businesses being the backbone of our state’s economy, it’s encouraging to see so many putting an emphasis on culture. This has a profound impact on the communities they serve.”
Winning companies represent more than 30 cities and towns, with multiple honorees coming from Carmel, Evansville, Fishers, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Marion, Plainfield, Warsaw, and Washington. In addition, several businesses have multiple Indiana locations.
The rankings will be unveiled on May 10 at an awards event presented by trueU.
Top companies in the state were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys. The Workforce Research Group handled the selection process.
Winners were selected from four categories: small companies of between 15 and 74 U.S. employees; medium companies of between 75 and 249 U.S. employees; large companies of between 250 and 999 U.S. employees; and major companies with 1,000 or more U.S. employees. Out-of-state parent companies were eligible to participate if at least 15 full-time employees are in Indiana.
The 2023 Best Places to Work in Indiana companies range in Hoosier employee count from 15 to 1,300.
Organizations on this year’s list that have displayed sustained excellence during the program’s 18-year history receive additional recognition. Hall of Fame designees are those that have been named a Best Place to Work in Indiana at least 60% of the time in the program’s history. Two companies – Edward Jones and KSM (formerly Katz, Sapper & Miller) – have been named to the list all 18 years of the program.
All companies that participated in the 2023 Best Places to Work program receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to their employees. In turn, this report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs.
The 2023 Best Places to Work in Indiana awards celebration will be open to the public. Individual tickets and tables of 10 are available at www.indianachamber.com/conferences.
