MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested on Monday after Mitchell Police officers responded to a report of a domestic fight at 316 West Warren Street.
Police received the call at 9:36 p.m.
When police arrived there were met outside of the home by two females. One of the females was “visibly upset” and had red marks on her forehead and near her right temple.
The woman told police her boyfriend 35-year-old Paul Mesarosh had hit her multiple times with a closed fist. The second woman had witnessed the incident. The victim told police Mesarosh prevented her from leaving the home by holding her down and hitting her repeatedly in the head.
The witness claimed she could hear the woman screaming “bloody murder” and went and got her roommates. When they arrived at the home the victim came running out of the garage crying.
The woman signed a battery affidavit.
Police found Mesarosh in the garage and knocked on the door but he refused to open it. After repeatedly knocking on the door harder, the door opened. Mesarosh was not in the garage.
Officers began checking the surrounding area and found Mesarosh walking on Main Street near 8th Street and he was detained.
Mesarosh denied striking the woman. He was arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, and interfering with reporting a crime.
