Family dispute leads to arrest of domestic battery and interfering with a 911 call

BEDFORD – A man was arrested after Bedford Police officers responded to a report of a domestic fight at 1807 13th Street on Monday, March 20th.

When police arrived at 7:38 p.m. they found a male standing outside on a cell phone. He was speaking to the dispatcher at the Bedford Police Department. The male said his father was hitting his grandmother.

Tristan Hutcherson

Officers went inside and spoke to 49-year-old Tristan Hutcherson. Police say Hutcherson was “profusely sweating and was already in an agitated state”. Hutcherson told police the female was “going crazy and making him mad”.

He told police “he was beating on her door” and the two had gotten into an argument. She then threatened Hutcherson that she was going to call the cops, so he took the phone away from her.

He told police his mother was kicking him and when he took the phone from her she might have gotten scratched by him.

The male witness said Hutcherson had gone into his grandmother’s room and taken her purse.

He stated he had to separate Hutcherson and his grandmother on more than one occasion to keep them apart.

Police say the woman had a visible abrasion on her wrist.

Hutcherson was detained on charges of interfering with a  911 call, and domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years old.

Hutcherson then claimed he was having a seizure and an IU LifeLine ambulance responded. They reported Hutcherson was not having a seizure and he was transported to jail.
