SPENCER CO. – Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are investigating the discovery of human remains on US 231 near County Road 1000 North in Hammond Township.
Shortly after noon on Saturday, two hunters were in the area looking for deer shed antlers when they discovered what they believed to be human bones. The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office initially received the 911 call and requested assistance from the ISP Jasper Post with the investigation.
ISP Troopers remained on the scene until around 7 p.m. when an anthropologist arrived on the scene to further process the crime scene.
