INDIANAPOLIS — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enforces billions of dollars every year in combined federal administrative, and civil judicial penalties and criminal fines. An Indiana Chamber of Commerce offering next month is designed to help Hoosier companies avoid those hits to their bottom line.
The Environmental Permitting and Reporting Conference, which takes place April 26-27 in downtown Indianapolis, is “the most complete and comprehensive permitting and reporting course offered in the state,” says Kerri Begley, Indiana Chamber vice president of business education and events.
It’s also convenient – with in-person and virtual attendance options – and timely, including the latest action from the 2023 legislative session. Fee increases for Indiana’s air permitting program, in order to avoid takeover from the EPA, is a key policy currently being debated by state lawmakers. This is among the many topics on the agenda focused on preparing businesses for any existing and new costs and requirements.
“Our conference will get you up to speed on the prevalent reporting issues impacting Hoosier companies today,” said Begley. “Whether you participate in person or virtually, this conference affords vital training for plant managers to facility personnel – all those that deal with air and water permitting issues.”
Other topics include sustainability reporting and customer requests; environmental management fundamentals; an Indiana Department of Environmental Management update; water, air, and waste permitting; self-disclosure reporting; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act: hazardous waste generator compliance; and annual Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act reporting.
The cost for the conference is $749 for Indiana Chamber members or $849 for non-members. Register at www.indianachamber.com/conferences.
