Janet Endris, 82, of Avoca, died at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born November 27, 1940, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Winfred and Jeanette (McDonald) Wells. She married Mike Endris on January 3, 1959, and he survives.
Janet was a graduate of Needmore High School in the class of 1958. She was a homemaker and worked in the jewelry department for J.C. Penney’s in Bedford for many years, retiring in September 2004. She was an avid card player. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Janet was a strongly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and supported and defended her family at all costs.
Janet will be deeply missed.
Surviving is her husband Mike of Avoca; three daughters, Paula (David) Ikerd, Carla (Dan) Brock, and Wendy (Eric) Scherschel all of Bedford; one son, Tom Endris of Springville, IN; grandchildren, Lana (Bo) Baker of Paoli, Tatum (Landon) Baker of Bedford, Reece (Breonna) Ikerd of Indianapolis, Logan (Kelsey) Scherschel of San Antonio, TX, Levi Scherschel of Indianapolis, Olivia Scherschel of Bedford, Savanna Scherschel of West Lafayette, IN, Drew Endris of Bedford and Brianna Endris of Bedford. Janet had 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Jessica Beretta Endris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. also on Saturday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
