BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested after Lawrence County Central Dispatch received a report about a female making threats at 96 Middle Avenue.
The caller said the woman was making threatening statements to the caller’s children. The caller reported the female was standing near the roadway near a grey minivan.
When police arrived they found the female caller in her driveway and a male and a female working on a grey minivan located across the street from the caller’s driveway.
The caller told police the female had told her children she was going to kill them.
An officer approached 22-year-old Jaiden Curren and asked her about making the threats.
She told police her family members were in the driveway at 85 Middle Avenue and were arguing and then left the home. She told police she was in the shower during this time and was unaware of any threats or other incidents.
The officer then asked her for her identification and she provided police with her first and last name but then stated “she was underage and that I shouldn’t be speaking to her”. She was then told the officer was investigating a potential criminal matter and that she was required to identify herself. She then provided the officer with her date of birth. He told Curren to stay put and that he would be back to speak to her.
The officer then returned to his police vehicle to check Curren’s information and learned she was wanted on a warrant issued by the Indiana Department of Corrections.
When the officer exited his vehicle, Curren had gone inside the home. The officer knocked on the door and a male answered and stated Curren was in a bedroom. The officer knocked on the bedroom door but she would not answer. He had to force the locked door open and found Curren hiding in the corner of the room.
The officer approached Curren and told her she was under arrest. She pulled away from the officer as he attempted to handcuff her. Curren continued to pull away from the officer. The officer had to push Curren against the wall to gain control. She then began swinging her arms and kicking at the officer. She was told multiple times to stop resisting but she continued to be defiant.
Curren then pushed away from the wall. The officer had to place Curren face down on the bed where he was able to place Curren in handcuffs.
While walking Curren to the police vehicle she continued to make “unreasonable noise by screaming loudly”.
While in the back of the police vehicle, she continued to scream “at a level that was clearly audible at the front porch of the 85 Middle Avenue address”.
She was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail on the outstanding warrant, two counts of resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
