BEDFORD – Karter West, a Senior at BNL, has been named the Genius Jock for the month of April presented by the attorneys at Pittman Law firm, Greg Pittman and Michelle Woodward.
Karter, son of DJ West and Michelle Woodward, is and has been a two-sport athlete in football and soccer for the past four years. He has worked hard on and off the track and soccer field. His efforts on the soccer field also earned him special recognition as a Hoosier Hill Conference Soccer Honorable Mention, all while maintaining a 3.95 GPA.
Participating in more than just athletics, Karter was recognized as the Math Star of the Month and is a member of the Disney Club.
The success of a student can originate from self-motivation and/or from strong family values and support.
“Mr. Callahan notified me that Karter had been chosen, it was such a nice surprise,” said Karter’s mother Michelle Woodward. “I immediately messaged his dad and sisters. We are all very proud of Karter!”
After graduating, Karter plans to attend Ball State University to study Computer Science.
BNL Athletic Director, Jeff Callahan, says Karter fits the definition of student-athlete. “He competes just as hard in the classroom as he does on the track and soccer field. He has worked hard during his four years at BNL to prepare himself for success at Ball State.”
