Man arrested after police conduct a traffic stop and find heroin

BEDFORD – On Sunday, April 2, around 3:40 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood conducted a traffic stop along State Road 37 and John Williams Boulevard.

Officer Trueblood detected indicators of criminal activity and discovered that the male passenger, Andrew Lee, 44, of Greencastle was wanted on an active parole violation warrant.

Lee was detained.

Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington assisted by deploying his canine Dany Joe, who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. A search revealed that Lee was in possession of a used hypodermic syringe, a small amount of heroin, and other drug paraphernalia.

Lee was arrested on the outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
