LAWRENCE CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Five Star Company announced plans to close sections of State Road 446 starting on or after Monday, April 17 to complete a series of small structure replacements between State Road 58 and U.S. 50 in Lawrence County. State Road 446 will close for up to 20 days at each of the following locations, weather permitting.
- Starting on/after Monday, April 17: S.R. 446, approximately one mile north of U.S. 50 on S.R. 446.
- Starting on/after Monday, May 8: S.R. 446, approximately 1.25 miles north of U.S. 50 on S.R. 446.
Free Spirit Campground will be accessible from north S.R. 446.
The $1.2 million contract was awarded to Five Star in February, with a completion date set for late May. Traffic will be routed along the official detour, which follows U.S. 50, to S.R. 37, to S.R. 58. Access will be maintained for local residents; thru traffic should use an alternate route.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
