MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested on Wednesday, April 12th after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 12:22 a.m. and could hear a woman being injured.
Disptach pinged the call to 170 Diamond Street and deputies responded.
When police arrived they made contact with a male and a female who both reported they had not made the call.
While at the scene police were informed a female was at the station to report a battery, and was also the person that made the 911 call.
The woman told police, her ex-boyfriend Eric Truelock was at her home and there was an argument because he had taken her truck earlier in the day.
She told police she was sitting on the couch when Truelock began yelling at her, “getting in her face” and began throwing things.
The female fled to a bedroom, locked the door, and told Truelock to leave her alone, However, Truelock was able to break through the bedroom door.
The female told police she attempted to leave the home, but Truelock grabbed her arm, pulled her back into the house, and pushed her to the floor.
She attempted to call 911 several times but Turelock would hang up the phone.
She was able to get up and attempted to get to the front door but he again grabbed her arm and pushed her to the floor. He then hit her in the back of the head several times.
She was finally able to get free and ran from home and left.
The female suffered injuries to her hands and multiple scratches and abrasions. The woman was seen by EMS and was medically cleared.
The woman signed a battery affidavit.
Officers found the woman’s home in disarray from the struggle and they found the busted bedroom door. Truelock had fled the scene.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Truelock’s arrest on charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, and interfering with reporting a crime.
