BEDFORD – On Thursday, April 13th, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Chevrolet truck near the intersection of J and 9th streets in Bedford.
During the stop, Sheriff Day recognized the male passenger,50-year-old Brigido Delfierro, of Bedford, and knew Delfierro was wanted on a civil warrant.
In addition, Sheriff Day detected indicators of criminal activity from the driver, 21-year-old Tyler Allen, of Bedford.
While taking Delfierro into custody on the warrant, it was discovered that he was in possession of a glass smoking device with methamphetamine residue inside.
Upon request, Bedford Police Officer Faheem Bade arrived on the scene and deployed his canine, ZaZu, who gave a positive alert on the truck for the presence of controlled substances.
A subsequent search resulted in locating of approximately 12 grams of meth in the truck. The meth was packaged in smaller baggies and labeled with drug slang terminology consistent with dealing.
Sheriff Day and an Indiana State Police DES Detective furthered the investigation. Utilizing the evidence from the traffic stop, as well as earlier information that Sheriff Day had on Allen being involved in dealing methamphetamine, a search warrant was requested and obtained for Allen’s apartment along the alley in the 400 block of S Street.
Upon execution of the search warrant, officers encountered 20-year-old Ruby Bowman, of Bedford, in the apartment. Approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine, several controlled substance pills, and drug paraphernalia were located in the apartment
As a result of the investigation, the following arrests were made:
Allen is facing charges of dealing and possession of meth over 28 grams, possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bowman was arrested on a charge of possession of meth between 10 and 28 grams.
Delfierro was arrested on the warrant and charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers assisting Sheriff Day and ISP DES with the investigation included Bedford Officer Sgt. Faheem Bade, Major Jesse Crane, Officer Jarrett Tedrow, Lawrence County Officers Capt. Andy Blackburn, Officer Robin Compton, Officer Travis Atchison, and Indiana State Trooper Chance Humphrey.
