MITCHELL – Two people were arrested on Friday, April 14 on meth charges after Mitchell Police officers responded to a call of a suspicious male and female at 235 Cherry Street on the abandoned Lehigh property. The caller also reported his son had found a pile of discarded needles on the ground where the people were.
The caller reported the two people were now in a large pipe located on the side of the hill. Police said this “pipe” is known as a place for drug and illegal activity.
When police arrived at 5:02 p.m. they approached the location on foot. It is not accessible by vehicle. The location is roughly 65-75 feet from the roadway in a heavily wooded area. As the officers approached they could hear a male and female talking.
After waiting for about 15 minutes the small front wooden door of the pipe opened and a male 27-year-old Landon Anderson and a female 35-year-old Sasha Blevins walked out of the door.
Anderson told police he and the woman were looking for mushrooms. When asked why they were in the pipe they replied they “were just checking it out”.
Both Anderson and Blevins appeared “nervous”.
Anderson had a plastic bag containing syringes in his pocket. He told police, “These are for diabetic purposes”. A baggy containing crystal meth then fell from his pocket. Anderson quickly stepped on the baggy in an attempt to hide it from the officers.
In the pipe, police found a glass smoking device and two orange syringe caps.
Blevins told police she met Anderson at the pipe to have sex. She then admitted to having “dope in her bra”. The dope was identified as meth. There were also syringes in her bra.
Both Anderson and Blevins were arrested on charges of possession of meth and unlawful possession of syringes.
