BEDFORD – Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb updated the commissioners Tuesday morning on bridge construction.
The commissioner approved a contract amendment for Bridge 172 on Cement Plant Road over Leatherwood Creek.
To meet Department of Natural Resource regulations an increase of $18,300 was added to the contract to do more hydraulic analysis of the new structure, which was not in the original design scope due to permit requirement changes.
“It meet with DNR regulations, the infrastructure opening must be increased,” added Webb. “We are working with through the historic process and should have letting in November 2025.”
The contract increased from $288,723.30 to $305,023.30.
Work continues to repair Bridge 150 on Mill Creek Road.
“The trees have all been trimmed and they are working on relocation of the utilities,” added Webb. “That could take up to 150 days but they are saying it should be done sooner.”
The Lawrence County Commissioner approved a contract with CLR for $2.6 million to replace Bridge 150. The county will pay $319,536.10.
The Highway Department can now do CDL training in house, according to Webb.
“We now have a certified CDL training on site,” she added.
Crews are preparing roads for paving.
“We should be able to start paving in mid-May or on June 1, if all goes well,” Webb added.
