HELTONVILLE – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28-year-old Dustin Harris, of Jasper, on a battery charge on a child less than 14 years old.
On Sunday, April 23, Central Dispatch received a call regarding a hostile male. The male put his hands on an underaged female at the residence located at 456 Hunters Creek Road in Heltonville
Sergeant Michael Williams and Officer Brenten Trueblood responded.
When officers arrived they were met by two men that stated Harris was hostile and had grabbed a young female by the shoulders and shoved her up against the wall. The female told police Harris had threatened to smack her.
Police found Harris inside a camper on the property.
Harris refused to exit the camper when officers asked him to come out until Sergeant Williams told him he was going to release his canine.
Harris admitted he put his hands on the girl’s shoulder but stated he did not push her.
Harris was detained and transported to jail without further incident.
