BPD arrests man for protective order violation

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on Thursday, April 20th after Bedford Police officers responded to an apartment at 2621 Industrial Park Drive after a report of a man violating a protective order.

Police arrested 37-year-old Christopher Fleetwood, on two counts of invasion of privacy.

A woman showed police video of Fleetwood speaking to her in violation of the protective order. Fleetwood then walks away from the woman’s apartment door. Another video showed Fleetwood sitting outside of the woman’s apartment door.

The videos were recorded at 11:54 p.m. and 11:58 p.m. on April 20, 2023.

A witness also confirmed that Fleetwood knocked on the woman’s apartment door.

Officers spoke to Fleetwood who also lives in the apartment building. Fleetwood refused to open his apartment door saying “You are not going to take me to jail”. Officers continued to knock on the door and asked Fleetwood to open the door. Fleetwood was detained after the door opened during the officer’s knocking.

Fleetwood admitted that he intentionally approached and spoke to the woman and claimed he was “just checking on her”.

Fleetwood told police he “cared about the woman and wanted to check on her”.
