ELNORA – Bedford North Lawrence, even with seniors absent from the lineup, rolled to wins over Barr-Reeve and North Daviess during boys high school track action at North Daviess on Thursday.
The Stars won 10 events while scoring 104 points. Barr-Reeve was second with 35, while North Daviess totaled 25. In the girls meet, Barr-Reeve won the title with 78.5, the Stars were second with 55.5, and the Cougars posted 33 points.
While the majority of the seniors were involved with the annual scholarship foundation awards, the upperclassmen took the spotlight. Jerett Gilbert was a double winner in the 400 meter dash (53.41) and 800 run (2:12.75).
Other winners for the Stars included Christian Garciano-Curren (11.66 in the 100), Jonah Bailey (4:56.75 in the 1600), Cameron Miller (18.05 in the 110 high hurdles), Jimmy Farmer (112-7 in the discus) and Brayden Patterson (6-0 in the high jump).
BNL also won all three relays – Maddex McFarland, Reece Sims, Porter Brown and Garciano-Curren in the 400 (46.56), Patterson, Gilbert, Bailey and Sims in the 1600 (3:51.75), and Jaymee Reed, Manuel Morales, Lawson Grissom, Logan Langley in the 3200 (10:00.75).
In the girls meet, the Stars posted five wins. Tracey Hanners took the 100 (12.75), Mary Batz crossed first in the 400 (1:04.07), and Macey Lambrecht won the discus (74-2).
BNL also won the 400 relay (Lily Dusard, Alexis Kiser, Rose Dusard and Hanners in 55.97), and 1600 relay (Batz, Trinity Schmeichel, Francesco Orozco and Dusard in 4:20.13).
The Stars will visit Mitchell on Monday.
