SCOTTSBURG – Bedford North Lawrence went undefeated in doubles play while finishing second in the Scott County Invitational during girls high school tennis action on Friday and Saturday.
The Stars scored 40 teams points, with each singles player and doubles team playing three matches over the two days, to settle behind Evansville North (43) in the eight-team field. Scottsburg was third with 32.
BNL’s Bella Stigall and Mallory Pride recorded wins over Evansville North (6-2, 6-2), North Harrison (6-0, 6-3) and Scottsburg (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) at No.1 doubles.
Kenley Craig and Izzy Alldredge remained unbeaten this season as they posted wins over Lanesville (6-2, 6-4), Evansville North (6-1, 6-2) and Scottsburg (6-2, 6-2) at No.2.
BNL’s Italy Lewis was the runner-up at No.3 singles. She started with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Eastern Pekin, then conquered North Harrison (6-2, 6-4) before falling against Evansville North (6-3, 6-1) in her final match.
Ashlyn Wever had wins over North Harrison (6-2, 6-1) and Eastern Pekin (6-2, 6-4) at No.2 singles, and Becca Epping topped North Harrison at No.1 singles.
BNL will visit Columbus East on Monday.
