Traffic accident closes roads after driver strikes utility pole

LINTON – A traffic accident on County Road 1000 West in Greene County caused some traffic issues Sunday.

According to Greene County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jordan Allor, 71-year-old Ronald Nelson, of Clay City, was traveling north in his 2005 Toyota Highlander on C.R. 1000 West at the intersection of C.R. 200, when his vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with a Linton utility pole.

Nelson was not injured.

Because of the accident, the roadway was blocked due to power lines in the roadway at C.R. 1000 West and West State Road 54 and C.R. 1000 West and C.R. 300 North. Linton Utilities replaced the pole and repaired the lines.

At 7:45 p.m., Sgt. Allor reported the roadway was open.

Assisting at the scene were Switz City Fire Department, Linton Police Department, Linton City Utilities, Xfinity, and J&M Wrecker Service.
